If you’re looking for corn mazes, pumpkin patches and hayrides around Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill and the surrounding Triangle, I did the digging for you. 🍂

There are some seriously cute ones this year.

🚂 Ride a train out to the pumpkin patch at Pumpkin Patch Express
🐐 Carve pumpkins with goats at Spring Haven Farm
🌽 Try not to get completely lost inside the huge corn maze at Gross Farms

Home maintenance is one of those things that is so easy to put off until something breaks 😅🏡

But a few simple checks throughout the year can help protect your home and potentially save you thousands in repairs.

1. Change your HVAC filter every 1 to 3 months to help your system run efficiently.
2. Clean your dryer vent every 6 months to reduce buildup and lower fire risk.
3. Flush your water heater once a year to help remove sediment and extend its lifespan.
4. Check caulking around sinks, tubs and windows every 6 months to help prevent water damage.
5. Clean your gutters in the spring and fall so water can drain properly.
6. Test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms monthly.
7. Schedule an HVAC tune-up once a year to catch small issues early.
8. Trim trees near your home yearly to help protect your roof, gutters and siding.
9. Check washer hoses regularly and replace them about every 5 years to help prevent leaks.
10. Check your water heater anode rod every 3 to 5 years to help protect the tank.
11. Clean refrigerator coils every 6 months to help your fridge run more efficiently.
12. Lubricate your garage door once a year to reduce wear on moving parts.
13. Inspect your roof every 6 months for loose shingles, damage or signs of leaks.
14. Check exterior drainage once a year and make sure water is flowing away from your foundation.
15. Clean exterior siding yearly to help prevent buildup, mildew and deterioration.
16. Clean your dishwasher filter every 3 to 6 months to help prevent clogs and odors.
17. Test GFCI outlets every 6 months to make sure they are working properly.
18. Check weatherstripping once a year to help reduce heating and cooling loss.
19. Look for plumbing leaks every 6 months. Small drips can turn into bigger problems fast.
20. Seal small concrete cracks before they spread and become more expensive to repair.
