At Forsythe Law, we have been working with multiple clients whose homes are subject to foreclosure. Although this is typically a sad story, many times there is a silver lining-a mortgage surplus. When there are fund’s remaining after the Sheriff’s sale and all the debts are liquidated, we petition the clerk to release any surplus to our clients. Sad that the house is gone, but at least sometimes we can take some of the sting out of the loss.

We have been working for the last few months with a client who was charged with stealing a horse that actually was a gift! We mediated the case yesterday and were able to secure possession of the animal-great result!

Working with a new client who really got taken advantage of in a real estate deal. Just not fair! Word to the wise: check zoning, permitting, and land use before you sign on the dotted line!

Very nice elderly woman is leaving the mall when struck and knocked down by the sliding glass doors at the exit. The impact and fall fracture her pelvis in 2 places. We mediated the case last week. And, after about a 5-hour negotiation, got most of the case settled! Just confirms the value of great clients, a focused mediator, and reasonable defense counsel!

Oral hearing in Henderson Circuit Court today. At issue was application of KY Motor Vehicle Reparations Act. Spirited argument, great lawyers on other side, and attentive judge. We’ll see how she rules!
