I said I'd go back, and I did! After the 2023 race was called off early due to dangerous conditions, last week, I went back to complete all 340 miles of the MR 340, a kayak race from Kansas City to St. Louis.
The race took me just over 80 hours, during which I paddled around 97 miles daily from about 6:30 AM until around 11:30 PM. During that time, I paddled through the notoriously hot Missouri summer, navigated river barge traffic, was swarmed by bats, received a lesson in Missouri property taxes, and was finally able to land at the finish line in St. Louis.
I learned a lot about how far I could push myself physically and mentally, and I am grateful to everyone who helped me along the way.
I want to thank my ever-patient ground crew, my wife, Sarah Mahaffa, and my brother, Joshua Mahaffa, the amazing volunteers of central Missouri who made sure I didn't fall down after getting out of my boat, and the folks at Missouri River Relief who organize the race every year.

Check out this really amazing house in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood of Indianapolis!
I can vouch for this home by saying that the previous owner went above and beyond in the renovations (he and his family lived in an Air BnB for months while they gutted everything) and then the current owners added even more updates while they were here.
Plus, you get the added bonus of being my neighbor and I am extremely cool.

Google results: "FHA loans take an average of 52 days to close" , "30-45 days on average to move from underwriting to closing", "typically takes about two-months."
