Ca has a $18 Billion debt that is due to the Federal Government. This debt is a result of all the unemployment claims during the pandemic. Instead of repaying debt, Ca issued an inflation refunds to the benefit of mostly the lower income residents. As a result, businesses will be experiencing an increase in payroll taxes over the next few years to begin to pay off this debt.
