American Red Cross
During today’s happy hour, the MyLawyerGA team members are donating pints instead of drinking them.
Our donation experience today reminded us of an excerpt from a powerful speech made by Winston Churchill on May 13, 1940: “I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat. We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many months of struggle and suffering.”
Those words were originally spoken over 80 years ago to inspire the British to keep fighting against a seemingly invincible enemy, but the sentiment rings true again today. Our community has endured incredible hardship and has many more months of struggle ahead. The last two years have taken so much from us that many people feel they have nothing left to give. And that’s okay – sometimes all we must give is ourselves. If you have been looking for a way to contribute, consider signing up to donate blood today.
Did you know that you can donate whole blood every 56 days? If you think that is a lot, consider that just every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, so the Red Cross really does need our help. Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages, ethnicities, and political leanings: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, patients with sickle cell disease, new mothers and infants, those battling cancer, and many others. One blood donation may help to save up to three lives. From our perspective, that makes giving blood a great way to give back to your community and those who truly need your help.
