As a small business owner in a rural community I've always been careful to avoid polarizing subjects and statements. However, as a Minnesotan and attorney, I want to publicly state that ICE and other federal officials are doing things that are BLATANTLY ILLEGAL here in MN and all over this country. The rule of law has been shattered by this Administration. I will always fight for the side of justice and truth and I hope most of my neighbors and fellow Minnesotans feel the same. We owe it to ourselves and each other, as fellow humans, to see and speak the truth.

Rounding people up, caging them in detention centers, and shipping them out of this country without due process is not just. Stopping people on the street and demanding their name and citizenship status is not how our immigration laws are meant to be enforced. Pepper spraying peaceful protestors is not freedom. And murdering a woman in broad daylight then trying to justify the use of deadly force by spreading lies about the situation is unconscionable. We have to do better - and that means all of us.

My job is to help people regardless of their political views, religion, sexuality, or citizenship status. I am proud to serve our community and strive to help my clients in whatever way I can. That will never change. But I am not willing to be silent.
