Our law office is classified as an essential business and remains open to serve you. However, for everyone's protection, we are working remotely. So please be patient and bear with us during this time. We are also not scheduling in office meetings, but are using Zoom and teleconferencing to meet with everyone.

One item of news that we would like to pass along, is that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors passed an emergency ordinance establishing a temporary, countywide moratorium on eviction for non-payment of rent by residential tenants directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you are a landlord, you can still take action against your tenant for non-COVID-19 breaches of your lease, including non-payment of rent that is unrelated to the crisis. As a practical matter, courts are not processing new cases right now, so you will have to wait to file an eviction action.

If you are a residential tenant, make sure you let your landlord know if your breach is related to the current COVID-19 crisis.

We will keep you updated on other changes as we move forward. Please stay home as much as possible, so that we can defeat the virus and return to normal.
