My first public comments regarding HB 1165. Video below with full transcription.
I am deeply saddened and truly heartbroken. That is not hyperbole. To this moment, nobody has contacted me. Not one call. Infer from that what you will.
The people of Bunkie and Ward 10 deserve to be heard — and I want to make one thing crystal clear: Avoyelles Parish does not fund the Bunkie City Court. The Police Jury contributes a pittance to my salary and an even smaller amount to my Clerk of Court and the Ward Marshal. That is the full extent of the parish's financial involvement.
As you will see in the transcription below, I will gladly forfeit that amount entirely to keep this court open. This has never been about money. It has always been about this community.
