✨ New on the Boortz Law Texas website! ✨

I’ve officially launched an Articles page where I’ll be sharing practical information for parents and families about juvenile law, school issues, teen-related concerns, juvenile records, and more.

There are already several articles live, including:

⚖️ Do All Juvenile Cases Go Before a Judge in Texas?
⚖️ 5 Important Differences Between Juvenile Court and Adult Criminal Court in Texas
⚖️ Juvenile Records & Military Enlistment

My goal is to create a helpful resource families can actually use when navigating stressful or confusing situations.

Last week, I had such a great time celebrating the graduation of the Bulverde-Spring Branch Leadership Program Class of 2026! As a graduate of the Class of 2024, I loved getting to see my colleague and friend Alicia Lackey Lackey Law Firm, P.C. graduate from the program and spend time with my friend and fellow 2024 graduate Olga Acosta.

I was also honored to be selected to serve on the Inaugural Council for the BSB Leadership Legacy Association. The Bulverde Spring Branch Area Chamber of Commerce has been incredibly welcoming and supportive as I’ve built Boortz Law Texas here in the community, and I’m truly grateful to be part of such a connected and encouraging group of people.

If anyone is considering participating in the leadership program, I highly recommend it. The relationships you build and the deeper understanding you gain about your community are truly invaluable!

Boortz Law Texas enjoyed being the guest speaker at the Texas Hill Country Kiwanis Club earlier this morning!

I’m always grateful for the opportunity to share what I see every day as a juvenile defense attorney: both the challenges families face and the opportunities the system has to help kids get back on track.

Having community members who take the time to understand the juvenile justice process truly matters. It shapes how we support kids and families when they need it most.

I’m especially encouraged by the conversation around how groups like Kiwanis can continue to show up for families and be part of that support system moving forward.

❤️🙏🙌

I had a great time at the Kendall County Bar Association meeting yesterday. Always good to catch up with Heather Tessmer Law Firm, PLLC and Edna The Carlson Law Firm ,and I enjoyed getting to meet Kendall County Criminal District Attorney's Office DA Nicole Bishop. It was really interesting hearing about the work their office is doing for the community—there’s a lot of good happening behind the scenes.

After spending the morning in court in Comal County last week, I headed to Kendall County for the afternoon. Before jumping back into court, I had a few extra minutes and made a quick stop in the law library. Maybe it’s the nerd in me, but after a busy morning, there is something oddly calming about taking a breather surrounded by shelves of real books 📚⚖️ 👓

I had a great time stopping by Hendley Law yesterday! It was wonderful to catch up and connect.

I’m grateful to be part of a legal community that is both supportive and collaborative, right here in the Spring Branch/Bulverde area!

So grateful to have Brittany with The Notary Bronco here in our community.

I had a last minute need to get a court document notarized, and she truly came through in a pinch. She was responsive, professional, and made the whole process easy. ✨

If you ever need a notary, I highly recommend Brittany with Notary Bronco. 🙌

Teenagers aren’t irrational. Their brains are just wired differently while they’re still developing.

That’s one of the ideas that drew me to "Thrive" by Lisa M. Lawson, a book that explores the science of the adolescent brain and what it tells us about how young people learn, grow, and make decisions.

One of the biggest takeaways is that adolescence isn’t just a phase kids have to “get through.” It’s actually one of the most important windows for creativity, learning, and growth—when the right guidance and support are in place.

I tend to keep a few books going at once: something related to teens or juvenile justice, a literary or historical fiction novel (my personal favorite), and usually a business or entrepreneurship book somewhere in the mix.

I’d love to hear—what’s on your bookshelf right now? 📖

Behind every case is a family trying to make the best decision they can in a hard moment. I take that responsibility seriously. Walking parents through the juvenile process — with clarity and steady guidance — is work I don’t take lightly. Thankful for the families who trust me to help protect their child’s future here in the Hill Country.

Today I shared something a little different in my newsletter — a “Day in the Life” look at what juvenile defense work actually involves.

From an early morning call preparing a family for a detention hearing…
to reviewing digital evidence in Seguin…
to coordinating with probation before court…

I truly love the work I get to do, and I don’t take lightly the trust families place in me.

If you’d like to read the full behind-the-scenes version, I’d be happy to add you to my newsletter list. Just send me a message!

Walking back to my car after court today, I had to pause for a minute.

For the past several months I’ve been watching the old City Hall building being restored — right near the courthouse and the juvenile probation office, two places I spend a good bit of time here in New Braunfels. 🏛️

Today it looks like the newly-renovated Old City Hall is officially opening ✨ and I’m so excited for our downtown to have a fresh, beautiful place to gather and eat after long days of hearings and meetings.

Here’s a local article with more details about the opening:

The space already looks fantastic from the outside, and I’m really looking forward to giving it a try soon! 🍽️

Downtown New Braunfels just keeps evolving! 🖤
