Lori began a new career as a paralegal with The Long Firm LLP in September 2009 and has been an integral part of our team here ever since. Through the years, we’ve watched her develop professionally, get her kids through college, work two jobs, run multiple 5Ks, see her one son get married, and watch Lori get ready for her second’s son’s wedding.
One year ago, Lori could walk 5 miles and bike 13. Now today, she is in the fight of her life.

Lori is suffering from Cardiac Amyloidosis which is a serious heart condition that develops when an abnormal protein called "amyloid" builds up in your heart, interfering with its ability to pump blood effectively, often leading to heart failure. Despite a fairly early diagnosis (February 2023) and immediate treatment, her condition has progressed rapidly, and she is now in end stage heart failure requiring a heart transplant for survival.
Lori is humble. She rarely, if ever, asks for anything for herself. She is the most caring, loving, selfless, and kind member of our Firm and community. She is compassionate. And now, we are appealing to you, for your compassion.
Within the next day or so, Lori will be airlifted to New York City while she awaits a heart transplant. She will be leaving behind her entire support system including her current health care providers, parents, children, siblings, nieces and nephews, and more friends than I can count. She is leaving the comfort of her home, her town, her city.
While Lori does have excellent health insurance, there are thousands of dollars in co-payments and other medical expenses that she needs help with as well as travel expenses for her family, especially her children, who will be traveling to NYC frequently to be with her while she awaits a new heart.
