As Hurwitz Fine continues to grow, these annual gatherings are a great reminder of how important it is to come together, catch up, and stay connected across our offices.

Estate planning in New York is entering a new era. Beginning December 12, 2027, New York will recognize properly executed electronic wills, giving clients and families a modern option for documenting their wishes while preserving important safeguards against fraud, mistake, and uncertainty.

Although traditional paper wills will remain available, the Electronic Wills Act creates a new framework for signing, witnessing, storing, filing, proving, and revoking wills in electronic form. For clients, the law may eventually make estate planning more flexible and convenient—but only if its detailed requirements are followed carefully.

Hurwitz Fine Estate Planning Attorney Melissa Pezzino provides an update.

Last week, our attorneys from across the firm came together in Buffalo for two days of professional development, learning and connection at our Attorney Development Program.

The program offered an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, learn from colleagues and guest speakers, exchange ideas and connect with one another outside of the office.

Thank you to everyone who presented, participated and helped make it a great two days!

As we recognize Pride Month, it's an opportunity to reflect on the importance of fostering workplaces where employees feel supported, valued, and included. The business case remains clear: companies that cultivate inclusive cultures are better positioned to attract talent, improve retention, and drive long-term success.

In her latest article, "In the Face of Governmental Pressure, the Business Case for Inclusion Lives On," Anastasia M. McCarthy examines recent trends affecting LGBTQ+ employees and explores why inclusion continues to matter.
