🚨 BE PREPARED BEFORE YOU FILE! 🚨

Before tax season, we encourage our clients to create an IRS Online Account. It allows you to check your IRS balance, tax records, payments, and certain notices or letters online. 📲

⚠️ Keep in mind: Your IRS account will not show every debt you may owe. Past-due child support, certain student loan debt, and other qualifying non-tax debts generally will not appear as an IRS tax balance. You may need to contact those agencies separately.

💰 It’s always good to know what you owe BEFORE you file. Certain past-due debts could potentially cause all or part of your refund to be offset. This does NOT mean an offset is guaranteed, but checking ahead of time can help you avoid being surprised if you don’t receive your full expected refund.

🪪 Another reason to set up your account early: If the IRS requires you to verify your identity or tax return after filing, already having your online account established could make accessing and completing an eligible online verification process quicker and easier.

How to get started:

Go to IRS.gov → Sign in to your account → Create an account with ID.me → Verify your identity → Review your information.

If you receive ANY letter or notice from the IRS, please send us a copy ASAP.

We do not receive those notices, so we won’t know there’s an issue unless you tell us. Some letters have strict deadlines that could affect your refund or require immediate action.
