As this year nears a close, we remember that we are truly blessed to work with great clients. Mrs. Simmons and her husband are a delight and we were pleased to chart a path to a successful closure of her insurance claim at mediation.

We are truly blessed to represent great clients.

Our brave client here was hit by an SUV going roughly 45 mph while cleaning the road on a street sweeper. In the end, he needed emergent care from a Level 1 trauma center and a team of physicians to oversee the complex medical treatment. Our client had an excellent tort firm in Atlanta handling his insurance claim against the at-fault driver and we were brought in to handle the Workers' Compensation issues. In the end, our client received thorough, specialized care and we secured a solid outcome on his insurance claims so that he could move forward with life after such a scary time for him and his family.

If someone you love has suffered a life-changing injury while they are hard at work, please let us step into that situation and bring some light. There is life on the other side, but it will require a lot of work and a lot of legal expertise to get there.

Even though the new Hyundai Megasite near Savannah has only recently opened, there were numerous serious injuries and deaths during its construction the last few years. Now, since opening, two deaths have occurred in the last three months.

It's important to remember that when we marvel at the speed with which something is produced ("that went up so fast!") or the scale of a large operation ("that is the largest plant I have ever seen!"), there is always a human toll that went with it. You simply can't erect something of that scale without humans being hurt, or worse.

When those serious injuries happens, our firm helps workers put their lives back together. If that worker does not survive the accident, we are there to help the family and qualified dependents obtain a death benefit through Workers' Compensation.

Folks, after almost 5 years of virtual work beginning in the global pandemic, it was time for this slow-moving ceature of habit to go back to a routine, in-person office.

Starting today, The Woody Firm can be found in The Brunswick Studios downtown. Which works great since places like Tipsy McSway's, Reid's Apothecary and Schroeder's Market are among my most frequent spots anyway.

For my Workers' Comp brethren around the state, we've got a good conference room if you want an in-person mediation downtown and I would love to take you for some great food afterward. Or, if you're like me and have a bit of nostalgia about doing WC mediations two blocks down in Brunswick's Old City Hall, we can reserve that as well.

Folks, New Year, new happenings!

After more than 12 years practicing law with one of my best friends, we decided this year to reorganize as solo practices. This just makes better sense for our current use of resources, living four hours apart, etc. I am still handling Workers' Comp cases all around the state of Georgia, but with a growing majority of my caseload in South and Coastal Georgia.

I am also devoting more of my time to private mediation in Brunswick and over Zoom, and if that wasn't enough, teaching Sports Law as an Adjunct over at College of Coastal Georgia.

All good things, but just wanted to keep everyone in the loop. My current contact card is pictured here. And a very hearty thanks to my former law partner and so many great lawyers and clients on here that have been kind enough to allow me to do this for almost 20 years. If I didn't know any better, I might think I was getting old 😉
