The ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran continues to drive uncertainty across global markets.

Situations like this do little to support investor confidence. Instead, geopolitical volatility tends to delay investment decisions, trigger project reassessments, and increase overall caution among investors.

Recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump have added to this uncertainty. While he suggested that the conflict may be nearing its final stage, he also indicated that military actions could continue in the coming weeks, without outlining a clear path forward. These mixed signals make the situation harder to interpret and increase market hesitation.

For Mexico, this environment is particularly relevant. Given its close ties to international trade and capital flows, global instability often translates into delayed investments and more conservative decision-making.

Although there is still a possibility of reaching an agreement to ease hostilities, the current context remains complex. A timely and coordinated resolution will be key to restoring confidence and providing greater certainty for investors.

Last week, I had the opportunity to present on the USMCA 2026 Review, a process that will play a critical role in shaping the future of trade across North America.

It was a valuable discussion focused not only on the current landscape of the agreement, but also on the potential scenarios ahead, from a likely renewal with targeted adjustments to the risks associated with a lack of alignment among the parties. Key issues such as rules of origin, supply chain security, nearshoring, and labor enforcement will undoubtedly take center stage.

I would like to thank the International Employment Law Committee of the American Bar Association for the invitation and for creating a platform that encourages meaningful dialogue among practitioners across jurisdictions.

We will continue to closely monitor developments as this review process evolves, given its significance for companies operating in or entering the region.
