Mid-Level Litigation Attorney
Well-established solo practitioner with a diverse caseload focused on matrimonial, family and criminal defense law, located in downtown Brooklyn, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented litigation attorney to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for a litigator looking for regular courtroom activity, direct client communication, and a diverse caseload in a fast-paced, small firm environment, supported by a respected and experienced senior attorney.
Responsibilities:
1. Legal Research/Analysis/Drafting: Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case preparation and strategy development, and prepare and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, and other litigation-related materials.
2. Court Appearances: Represent clients in court proceedings (hearings, jury/bench trials, arraignments, etc.), mediations, settlement discussions, etc.
3. Client Communication: Interact with clients, opposing counsel, and other relevant parties to gather information, provide updates, and ensure effective communication throughout the litigation process.
4. Case Management: Manage a caseload, including organizing and maintaining case files, tracking deadlines, and managing document production.
5. Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative duties, such as scheduling appointments and managing correspondence.
Qualifications:
1. Education/Bar Admission: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school, and admission to the NY State Bar, are required.
2. Legal Experience: 2-5 years experience as a hands-on litigator in NY with in-depth knowledge of civil procedure is ideal, but the firm is willing to consider less experienced applicants. Experience in matrimonial and family law is strongly preferred.
3. Communication and Organizational Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and court personnel. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
4. Professionalism: High level of professionalism, ethical conduct, and integrity.
We are offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $65,000 to $85,000 plus bonuses and benefits.
