On Thursday October 19th, my mom passed away.
She was the most dynamic, charismatic, and caring spirit — and had an impact on so many lives.
Yes she was a mother to my sister & I — but she was also a mentor, role model, and honorary mother to many.
A nurturer & caregiver at heart; she served as a neonatal nurse for over 30years. She put her soul into her work. And after she retired, she dedicated her life to travel, her family, as well as her passions of poetry, pageantry and socializing.
She was a fashionista and true diva, in the best way — life was her runway.
And my mom stepped triumphantly on that runway — to her own joyous, loving, and prideful beat. She set the example for me & for so many other — of whom a caring & vulnerable yet strong & fiercely independent woman can be. She was limitless.
Proud, poised, graceful, worldly, well-spoken and chic — my mom was a Renaissance woman. She was a Bajan woman 🇧🇧🇧🇧🇧🇧
Personally, I find peace in knowing that she is free of the pain she was suffering with her battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer for over a year. I know she is watching over me, my sister, her grandchildren (Soraya, Alem) and so many others - just as she did when she is alive.
I find comfort knowing she is in heaven with my Dad, Coco (my old dog), Aunt Merle, Uncle Boo, Auntie Shelia, Uncle Selwyn, Carolyn and so many others.
She was a light here on earth and now in heaven.
Thank you Mom. You will be missed more than you’ll ever know.
