🏛️ VERDICT: $1.525 Million against the NYC Transit Authority
Proud to share a trial win by our associate Barlet Lucaj.
Our client was walking down a Brooklyn subway stairway when he slipped on vomit left on the steps and shattered his ankle — an injury that took multiple surgeries to repair. The Transit Authority's defense was the usual one: we didn't know it was there.
We proved otherwise. The hazard was old and dried with no fresh odor — it had been sitting there for a long time. And the station's own cleaner showed up already carrying a cone, which he placed right where the vomit was.
The result, in a bifurcated trial:
→ First jury: TA 100% liable, no comparative fault on our client
→ Second jury: $1.525 million
