We successfully represented a military father in a 3 day custody modification trial resulting in primary physical custody and final decision making authority to our client. We proved that he was the more involved parent, attending to all of the child's educational, social and medical needs and that he consistently had the child with him much more time than did the mother. We used computer programs that kept track of the parental access and enabled us to provide detailed, documented and specific testimony that was accurate and convincing and contradicted and disproved many of the mother's false and undocumented assertions. Our client is very pleased with the outcome and now we will be seeking child support on his behalf as well. Hard work and attention to detail pays off. IMPORTANT NEW LAW RE: CUSTODY OF PETS IN DIVORCE. As of 10-25-21 NYS now will treat "custody" & "visitation" of marital pets in divorce cases more like children than property. Until now a pet was considered "chattel", just like any household item, such as a couch or table. But the new law says that from now on marital pets will be dealt with like children, with the court to determine the best interests of the pet. There will of course be testimony required, probably by the parties and even expert witnesses to assist the court in making the custody determination.

VERY IMPORTANT NEW LAW: SUPPORT NOW GOES TO AGE 26 FOR ADULT CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. CALL US AT 718-875-5151 if you want to discuss filing for this extension of support if you have an adult child under age 26 with development disabilities, even if your prior child support order has expired.
NY just passed a new law that provides for support to be paid for adult children who have developmental disabilities up to age 26, which is longer than the age support normally ends which is 21 in NY. This opens up 5 more years of support for the custodial parent who is carrying the financial burden of maintaining the disabled adult. If the child has not reached 26 as yet the custodial parent can file for child support now even if the support had already stopped per a previous court order or the child having reached age 21.

Congratulations to my law partner Lauren Arnel, Esq. for winning a custody trial today which not only secured full physical and residential custody to our client, but also secured the right of our client to relocate with the child. Lauren's examination of the witnesses proved conclusively that it was in the child's best interests to make the move with our client as Lauren showed our client was not only the superior parent and had done all the work of raising the child, but also the other parent was virtually uninvolved, violent and abusive. Congratulations to my law partner Lauren Arnel, Esq. for her winning rebuttal memo of law which defeated the father's objection to the child support order we had won for our client. We represented the mother of the children and secured a support court order including extracurricular activities costs, daycare costs and medical reimbursement costs, in addition to basic child support! The father tried to overturn the order but Lauren's well written persuasive legal argument in the memo of law prevailed. Well done Lauren!

Congratulations to my law partner Lauren Arnel, Esq. for her successful representation of a U.S. Army officer who was paying excessive child support when the child was enrolled by the mother in a long term residential facility that provided all of the child's needs with no cost to the mother. Lauren was able to get the child support order terminated retroactive to the date she filed the petition and also got an order that no arrears are owed. I am proud of her for also providing a nice discount to our Army officer-client who puts his life on the line to protect us. Nice job Lauren!
