Dear members and friends of the Plymouth County Bar Association:

I hope you all are enjoying this fantastic weather and preparing for a wonderful 4th of July weekend. I just wanted to take a moment to provide a more in depth explanation of two programs currently being implemented in the courts of Plymouth County. Specifically, the Restorative Justice (RJ) Pilot Program and the Plymouth County Community Court Diversion Program (PCCCDP). As most of you know, the implementation specialty courts within the trial court exist to address the root causes of criminal behavior and legal disputes. Most importantly they are effective in delivering justice, creating awareness and providing a custom approach to reducing crime and solving problems. Some examples of these courts focus on homelessness (presently only in Boston), substance abuse and addiction, mental health and veterans. Below please find a breakdown of the differences between the RJ and PCCCDP Programs with some pamphlets, forms and supplemental information. Hopefully, this may shed some light on common misperceptions and assist you and your clients in achieving the appropriate resolutions to sometimes very difficult matters.

We understand these Programs may cause some discussions from many different points of view. We would be interested to have your feedback and/or any interest in a potential bench-bar with discussion on the topics.

Cheers,
PCBA Education Committee
