Congratulations are in order for TWO amazing people! Andrea Banfield (on the right) has just been nominated to the Livingston County United Way's Board of Directors! As a Board member, she attended yesterday's Women United meeting, where they discussed the incredible success of their first Power of the Purse event, which included a purse garage sale, silent auction and live auction and raised over $21,000 for Great Start Livingston! Great Start Livingston coordinates community resources to ensure all children — from prenatal to age 8 — are safe, healthy and eager to succeed in school and life.

Our second congratulations goes to our firm's long-time assistant, Kristine Masters (on the left), who is now United Way's Community Impact Coordinator! They are beyond lucky to have her. Congratulations on your new role, Kristine!

Our very own Andrea Banfield was re-elected to the Family Law Council — which is working to improve Michigan's family courts!

The Family Law Council is working with lawmakers on important legislation, House Bill 5445, which would improve Michigan's family courts by ensuring judges receive specialized training for family law cases and providing consistency for families by ensuring "one family, one judge."

Andrea was elected by a panel of recognized leaders in Michigan family law to the Michigan Family Law Council, serving as a Co-Chair of the Council's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) / Collaborative Committee. Given Andrea's expertise in mediation and outside-the-box solutions for resolving disputes beyond the adversarial lawsuit route, she is a phenomenal choice to serve on the council and help strengthen our family court system through legislation like HB 5445.
