Gamblers beware: In the Senate’s roughly 900-page version of President Donald Trump’s multitrillion-dollar tax bill, gamblers would only be able to deduct 90% of their losses when calculating their net income.

I am getting a lot of new clients with W-G (gambling) issues. The IRS is auditing tax years 2021 and 2022 for people with unreported W-Gs. Please note that if you are a frequent gambler, year end won/loss statements from a casino may not be enough to prove your losses. IRS regulation say that the taxpayer is required to maintain “permanent books of account or records as are sufficient to establish the amount of gross income, deductions, credits, or other matters required to be shown by such person in any return of such tax or information” .
