The young ladies of The Chrysalis Project Inc. visited our NYO for “A Day In The Life At A Law Firm,” where they had the opportunity to learn more about the legal profession through real conversations, hands-on activities, and mentorship from our attorneys.

The students met with Melissa Peña, Danielle DeFilippis, Kim Weber, and Jodi Sokol to learn about different areas of law, what day-to-day life at a firm looks like, and how attorneys approach real-world challenges and problem solving.

To close out the day, the students worked through a mock legal scenario guided by Monica Chawla and practiced thinking like lawyers themselves.

We’re proud to continue our partnership with The Chrysalis Project Inc. and support an organization dedicated to empowering young women through education, leadership, and opportunity.

Shana Siegel, Esq. recently participated in a Conversations of Your Life panel in Montclair, where key considerations around planning for later stages of life were discussed.

As part of her work at Norris McLaughlin, P.A., the discussion focused on advanced care planning topics including how to approach health care decision-making, communicate medical preferences, and ensure end-of-life planning reflects individual values and wishes.

It was a terrific program with knowledgeable experts across related fields and engaged attendees. We appreciated the opportunity to be part of the conversation and the thoughtful dialogue throughout, alongside Ellen Koehler, Adrian Allotey, and Rabbi Julie Roth.

Yesterday, the Hon. Emil Giordano (Ret.) joined a distinguished panel of mediators for Pennsylvania Bar Institutetitute’s webinar, “Model Behavior: Effective and Ethical Mediation Practice in Pennsylvania 2026,” presented in partnership with the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s ADR Committee.

Judge G. contributed insights on how the Model Standards of Conduct for Mediators—adopted by the PBA last year—interact with Pennsylvania’s Rules of Professional Conduct, ABA guidance, and key legal precedent. The program’s scenario‑driven format offered a practical look at real‑world ethical challenges and provided clear direction for navigating them with confidence.

When someone is aging solo, a hospital stay can move very fast - and important decisions can happen just as quickly.

In this video, we break down what a simple hospitalization plan for a solo senior should include:
📄 A one-page medication list
📄 Someone with authority to speak to doctors
📄 Support with discharge and post-discharge planning
📄 An up-to-date health care directive

A few things that often signal trouble in the hospital setting:
⚠️ Clients who can’t advocate for themselves
⚠️ Missing medical or prescription history
⚠️ Rushed, pressured discharge planning

When these issues show up together, the risk of confusion, unsafe transitions, or avoidable re-admissions increases. Planning ahead helps ensure decisions are informed, coordinated, and aligned with the individual’s wishes - not just the hospital’s timeline.

If you have questions about planning ahead or advocating for a loved one who is aging solo, contact Shana Siegel:
