Don’t Let Them Lose Their Community: Evermore Scholarship Fund

Opening

Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities in Jersey are not losing a service.

They’re losing the ability to use their DDD funding to access a public place they chose.

A place where they have friends.
A place where they feel understood.
A place where they finally belong.

What’s Happening

Evermore is a public, community-based studio space where adults of all abilities come together to build real lives—not sit in programs.

Now, individuals are being told they can no longer use their DDD funding to attend a public place like this.

Not because it failed.
Not because it didn’t work.

Because it doesn’t fit into a system.

What This Means

This means people are at risk of losing:

Their friendships
Their routines
Their independence
Their place in the community

They are being pushed away from a public setting they chose—and back into environments they didn’t.

My Why (Autistic-Led)

I am an autistic founder.

I built Evermore because I know what it feels like to be forced into spaces that don’t fit.

Evermore was a business built to be different.

Not a program.
Not a placement.

A public community where people can actually belong.

What This Fund Does

We created the Evermore Access Scholarship Fund through
Positive Impact Alliances
Positive Impact Alliances

This is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, meaning donations may be tax-deductible.

This fund directly:

Covers Evermore's memberships for individuals who can no longer use DDD funding
Keeps people in a public, community-based space they chose
Protects access during funding transitions
Impact

Call to Action

If you believe people should have the right to access public spaces—

If you believe funding shouldn’t determine whether someone belongs—

Help us keep that door open.

Evermore Lifestyle Solutions

Closing

This isn’t about saving a business.

It’s about making sure people with disabilities don’t lose access to one.

I need to say this clearly.

On Wednesday, I sat in a meeting with the state, overstimulated, trying to process, trying to advocate—not just for myself, but for every single person who walks through Evermore’s doors.

And I was cut off.
Dismissed.
Not listened to.

Even with support. Even with my words being expressed for me by Jackie Mack, with 17 years of DDD experience. Karen Monroy, the president of the New Jersey Self Direction Alliance was kicked out of the meeting trying to defend us and the assault on our I/DD member’s civil rights.

Let me be very clear about what is happening.

The state is trying to force Evermore—a PUBLIC, open-to-anyone membership community—into a medical, Medicaid-funded system that it was never designed to be.

They are trying to take a place built on choice, autonomy, and belonging… and turn it into the very system families are trying to escape.

A system where:

* You don’t choose when you go
* You don’t choose how you spend your time
* You don’t bring who supports you
* You don’t live like the rest of the world

We built Evermore differently—intentionally.

Not as a “program.”
Not as a “placement.”
But as a real community.

And now we are being told:
Become that system—or lose access.

After a 22-year-old young man lost his life in a licensed setting…
the focus should not be forcing people BACK into it.

It should be asking why families are leaving it.

I am an autistic founder.
I built this because I understand what it feels like to be unheard, overstimulated, and forced into systems that don’t fit.

We are not backing down.

This is about civil rights.
This is about choice.
This is about whether people with disabilities are allowed to live in the real world—or only in the boxes the system creates.

If Evermore matters to you—now is the time to speak.

Because if they can do this to us, they can do it to anyone.

I do want everyone to know, we are running business as usual, and we are not backing down.

Dear Evermore family and extended family,
We are asking you to stand beside us in this fight for freedom of choice.

Whether you are part of Evermore, part of another Goods & Services provider, a family member, a support person, or simply someone who believes that people with disabilities deserve access, dignity, and self-direction — we need your voice.

What is happening to Evermore is bigger than Evermore. It is about a system that claims to support choice while using power and fear to limit it. It is about outside services being treated as a threat by provider agencies that benefit financially when individuals have fewer options. It is about a Division willing to challenge meaningful community access, while providers with repeated concerns of abuse, neglect, and exploitation continue to operate within the very system meant to protect people.

Evermore stands for every person society has tried to marginalize. We stand for choice. We stand for community. We stand for dignity. And we will not be silent.

We stand for every business trying to make a true impact.

Please click the link below and join our call to action by sending a letter to the Commissioner of New Jersey.

This is a call for action as the very "Division" that is supposed to protect one of our most undeserved and vulnerable populations is attempting to block funding and access to our members.

This is personal.

Evermore was built because families and advocates know what it feels like to worry about the future. We know what it feels like to ask:

Where will my loved one belong?
Who will see them as a whole person?
Where will they build friendships, confidence, purpose, and community?

Right now, the Division of Developmental Disabilities has placed Evermore in an impossible position.

Without clear written guidelines for Goods & Services vendors to follow, without written guidance on how to correct any alleged non-compliance, and without putting their expectations clearly on paper, DDD has frozen access to a funding source that many individuals rely on to attend Evermore.

That means individuals with different abilities and other vulnerable populations may lose access to a community they chose — not because families did anything wrong, not because participants did anything wrong, and not because Evermore refuses to comply — but because DDD has failed to provide clear direction while using its power in a way that directly impacts the people it is supposed to serve.

Evermore is not a Day Habilitation provider.
Evermore is not Individual Supports.
Evermore is not Community Based Supports.
Evermore is not Community Inclusion.
Evermore is a community studio built around connection, enrichment, social experiences, interest-based classes, and belonging.

The fact that we offer classes, activities, and social opportunities does not automatically make us a Medicaid provider. Many general community vendors offer similar experiences. That does not make them DDD providers.

This fight is about informed choice. Families should have the right to choose meaningful community-based options that work for their loved ones. Individuals should not lose access to places where they feel accepted, included, and connected simply because the system refuses to create clear rules and then punishes those trying to operate in good faith.

We are ready to fight — not just for Evermore, but for every individual and family who has ever had their choices limited by a system that should be creating more options, not taking them away.

We are asking our community to stand with us.
Please write letters. Make calls. Share your story. Contact legislators. Tell DDD and state leadership that families deserve choice, transparency, and access to meaningful community options.

Because removing access from vulnerable individuals without clear written guidance is not oversight.

It is a disservice. And we are not backing down.

With love, faith, and true belief in community,
