🚨SB294 (now P.A. 26-81) has been signed into law. Notary fee increases go into effect July 1st. 🚨

Today the House passed a bill increasing notary fees and making changes to apostilles and trade name certificate filings. It now heads to the Governor's desk for signature.
Once that occurs NERPA will be updating it's notary fees (beginning July 1st) to align with the new statute (increasing to $10 per notary signature and the prevailing federal mileage rate ($0.725/mi), in addition to currently assessed admin fees).

🚨Potential changes coming to notary rates:

2 proposed bills affecting notary rates are going to Public a hearing tomorrow before the CT Judiciary Committee:
SB 262 --raises the rate to $10 leaves mileage $0.35, and
SB294- raises the rate to $10, updates mileage to the IRS rate, and also raises Apostille rates.

There is no proposed change to any differing rate for RIN notarization, or correcting any other issues in the statute.
