A 55-year-old Colombian woman named Adriana Quiroz Zapata was deported by the Trump administration — not to Colombia. To the Democratic Republic of Congo.

A country she has never lived in. A country she has no family in. A country that refused to accept her.

A federal judge was so outraged he immediately ordered the Trump administration to bring her back — citing the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case as precedent.

This is the Trump administration’s third country deportation policy in practice. Deporting people not to their home country — but to whatever country will accept them. Or in this case — even countries that won’t.

This is not an isolated incident. This is a policy.

If you or someone you love is in deportation proceedings — this case shows exactly why you cannot navigate this alone. Courts are pushing back. Judges are ordering people returned. But only when someone is there to fight.

Immigration attorneys across the country are reporting something deeply alarming.

ICE is detaining immigrants and taking their documents — passports, green cards, work permits, driver’s licenses, social security cards. And when people are released — sometimes in the middle of the night — ICE is not giving them back.

One attorney said: “I can’t think of a single client I’ve had detained who did not have their documents taken.”

It has gotten so bad that attorneys who used to tell clients to always carry their immigration documents are now telling them — don’t leave the house with your originals.

Here’s what you need to do right now. Make copies of every immigration document you have. Store digital copies in your phone. Email them to yourself and a trusted family member. If ICE takes your originals — you have proof of what they took.

And if a family member is detained and their documents are not returned — call us immediately. This is something we can fight.

Your documents are your life. Protect them.

DHS just awarded a $25 million contract to iris scanning company BI2 Technologies — deploying more than 1,500 scanners to ICE agents for use during immigration enforcement operations.

No ID required. No name needed. ICE scans your iris and within seconds knows exactly who you are, whether you have an immigration record, and whether there’s an active warrant for your arrest.

Privacy advocates and immigration attorneys are raising serious concerns about data storage, oversight, and how this information will be used. Right now there are no clear answers.

The government is investing heavily in technology to identify and track immigrants. If you have any open immigration matters — a pending case, a removal order, anything unresolved — now is the time to get legal help before technology finds you first.

Update on the USCIS adjustment of status memo.

As of today USCIS has confirmed that PM-602-0199 will be implemented on a case by case basis — meaning many immigrants will still be able to get their green card without leaving the United States.

Here’s what actually happened. The press release and the memo said two very different things. The government’s own spokesman overstated what the memo actually does. The law did not change. Not a single green card category was eliminated.

What changed is the level of scrutiny. A clean strong package matters more now than ever. Negative factors will be examined more carefully. But you do not have to leave the country.

The government scared a lot of people last week. Our job is to give you the truth.

If you have a pending case or were about to file — call us today.

There is a federal court case called ICWC v. Noem that every VAWA, U visa, and T visa applicant needs to know about.

In January 2025 ICE issued guidance dramatically expanding enforcement against people with pending humanitarian immigration cases — including domestic violence victims and crime victims who came forward to cooperate with law enforcement.

A federal court stepped in and partially blocked that policy. That is a significant win for the immigrant victim community.

But here is what you need to understand clearly. This ruling does not automatically protect you from detention or deportation. The protection is partial and has to be actively fought for on a case by case basis.

What a pending application gives you is a powerful legal argument — a basis to request a stay of removal and fight detention.

If you have a pending VAWA, U visa, or T visa case — or think you may qualify — explore your options. Speak with an immigration attorney. Knowledge is your most powerful tool right now.

Already filed your green card application inside the US? Here’s what the new USCIS memo means for your pending case.

Clean case — legal entry, no overstay, no unauthorized work, no violations — you’re probably fine. A strong clean package is still going to get approved.

But if your case has history — overstay, working without papers, crossing without inspection — this memo just made things more complicated. Officers now have specific instructions to weigh those factors against you.

Here’s what you need to know though. A pending case is not a lost case.

If USCIS issues an RFE or Notice of Intent to Deny — that’s not over. That’s a fight. And if USCIS ultimately denies your case, you can renew your application in immigration court. This new memo does not apply there.

Call us today. Let’s look at your specific situation together.

USCIS just said adjustment of status is extraordinary relief. So should you leave the US and apply through a consulate instead?

Strategically — no. Here’s why.

Leaving the US can trigger unlawful presence bars — three or ten years locked out of the country. And if you need a 601A waiver to come back — those are currently taking three years to adjudicate.

Here’s what most people don’t know. If USCIS denies your adjustment of status — you can renew that application in immigration court. And this new USCIS memo does not apply in immigration court. A denial is not the end of your case.

This is why filing a strong package now and fighting matters more than ever.

And do not let a notario file this for you. They cannot represent you at your interview. Under this new policy — USCIS will push back. You need a real attorney.

USCIS just issued a policy memo saying adjustment of status is no longer a standard pathway to a green card. Here’s exactly who is most at risk.

Overstayed a visa — even by one day. That can now be used against you.

Worked without authorization at any point. That counts against you.

Entered the US without inspection. You will face the highest scrutiny.

Came on a tourist visa and stayed. USCIS says you should have gone home and applied through a consulate.

Prior immigration violations — missed hearings, prior removal orders, prior deportations. Your case is now extremely vulnerable.

If any of these apply to you and you have a pending green card application — or were about to file — call us today.

The Annual Asylum Fee has existed since last year. A lot of people received the notice and ignored it.
Starting May 29th — 9 days from now — that changes.
If you don’t pay within 30 days of your notice, USCIS will reject your asylum application, cancel your work permit, and if you have no other valid immigration status — initiate removal proceedings against you.
The fee is $102. The consequences of not paying it are deportation.
Go to USCIS.gov today and check if your Annual Asylum Fee is due. If you see a blue Pay and Submit button — pay it immediately. Don’t wait.
If you have questions about your asylum case — call us today.

If you were the victim of a crime in the United States and you’re afraid to report it because of your immigration status — I need you to hear this.

Reporting that crime could actually protect you.

It’s called a U visa. It’s specifically designed for crime victims who cooperate with law enforcement — domestic violence, assault, sexual assault, robbery, kidnapping, extortion, and about 30 other qualifying crimes.

What you get: work authorization, protection from deportation, and after three years — a path to a green card.

Within about 19 months of filing, USCIS makes a Bona Fide Determination. If approved — you get deferred action and a 4-year work permit immediately while your case continues.

You don’t need to be documented to apply. Undocumented victims qualify.

You were the victim. The law was written to protect you.
