Today is a special day, one of the most important days to reflect. Many will post kind words or send a kind text--that is very thoughtful and for some that is all they are capable of.
However, if you are doing well, if you have time to spare, there are thousands of Veterans who have borne the battle and are struggling to survive. Many have scars that are unseen, many have wounds that are not visible but all who served are deserving.
If you have the time, resources and or money: buy a Veteran a coffee, a pair of gloves, a sandwich. Overt acts of kindness go much further than passive words of phrase.
I challenge my Facebook community to sit down with a Veteran they have never really engaged with, and give them 20 minutes of your time. Hand a homeless or at-risk Veteran that you normally walk by a new pair of gloves, a hat, a lightly used jacket: these things can be the difference in whether that person lives another day.
Some of these men and woman contemplate su***de daily and the random kindness of strangers can potentially save their life by giving them hope. Happy Veterans Day today but please appreciate and acknowledge Veterans everyday.
God Bless America!! ~13~
