Commonwealth v. Myles King
NORFOLK COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE CLAIMS PROCTOR'S RACISM DOES NOT MATTER
As expected, the Commonwealth has opposed our Motion to Dismiss the case against Myles King — a Black man in custody for nearly four years on a case built entirely by former MSP Trooper Michael Proctor, whose own texts, in his own words, referred to Black people as "animals," "less than human," and worse. The Commonwealth, blatantly and without any support in the record, suggests Proctor's hatred for the Black and Brown community did not affect his investigation of King, and that Proctor's racism is not "government conduct." In short, the Commonwealth does not have the balls to do the right thing and dismiss this case. The Court will now decide whether an investigation infected with this level of racism can produce a fair prosecution. We are confident it cannot. 📣 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝗜𝗡 𝗡𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗦

We're excited to share just some of our accomplishments from 2025! Last year at the Exoneree Network, we:

• supported 48 exonerees and others who've been released from long-term incarceration–their average age is 58, and 83% are people of color. Together, they lost 1,344 years to their wrongful incarcerations.
• assisted 19 family members and loved ones who serve as a vital support system for our members. They attended 16 events.
• provided our members with $83,000 in financial assistance to help them rebuild their lives in freedom.
• held 29 programs and events, including tech trainings, quarterly get togethers and our second annual healing retreat.

Other highlights include attending The Innocence Network conference in Seattle in April, enjoying the Celebration of Freedom & Community with friends and family in June, and being named a Nonprofit Excellence Award finalist in the “Community Building" category by the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network!

Thank you to everyone who helped us continue to build a thriving and safe community for our members! We’ll keep you posted on our 2026 progress.
