🙈 I'll be the bad guy and say what everyone's thinking.....

Most of you don't have businesses. You have expensive, time-consuming HOBBIES. And unfortunately, your biz-hobby isn't viable and won't be around 2 years from now. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I'm not being a hater. I'm simply looking at the data and statistics.

I don’t make the rules but….

Here’s a reminder to stay in your lane. If you’re a business owner — be that. Stop trying to be a lawyer, accountant, bookkeeper and everything else because odds are, you’re making things worse for yourself, not better.

The USPTO website is FILLED with hundreds of thousands of applications from DIY applicants who didn’t know what they were doing.

They fumbled through and filed an application, waited months, then got hit with an Office Action and had no clue what to do after that. The applications are pretty sad to look at because it’s CLEAR these people had no clue what they were doing.

It’s even worse when they use a cheap online website for their application — and the same exact thing happens 🥴🥴

SMH.

But, you get what you pay for.

🎯Here’s the takeaway: Invest in experts and stop fumbling though the important foundational things you need to build a solid empire.

Being a business lawyer for 10+ years didn’t teach me s**t about launching & running a successful business. I know the law…but the “business building” work is tricky to get right. I’m learning as I go, but 2022 taught me that I need to step it up.

Now let’s be clear: In 2022, my firm secured amazing clients and provided top-notch client service. We operate in excellence, always! We also hit record profits. 🙌🏾🙌🏾

….but I still need to step it up.

This year, I’m focusing more on marketing, brand recognition and positioning myself as an industry expert for trademark law.

This one is dedicated to the scammers and “business owners” who lack creativity and just steal it from everyone else…🥴🥴🥴

Just stop. That’s the message.

As for everyone else, remember that it’s your job as a business owner to police your trademarks and make sure no one is using them in an unauthorized way.

But what do you do when someone blatantly ignores your trademark ownership rights? You get aggressive. Period.

The business world is overrun with thieves, scammers and mediocre hobbyists looking for a come up. And best believe they’ll try to make a dollar off your brand name and IP if they can.

Stop letting these people play with you and your business.

Here’s your to do list :

🎯 File trademarks to protect them
🎯 Police your trademarks & shutdown anyone using your marks without permission
