I received a message from a gentleman asking the following. Can anyone help him out with information?
About 20 years ago I was drilling a property above Bolivar for coal, At the time I was working for the Florence Mining Co. through R&P Coal Co. The property was between Lockport and Bolivar.
Im trying to remember the owners name but at the time he was very old (it may have been Marino). I was walking alone the edge of the woods and discovered the remnants of an old pottery kiln, There were fragments of salt glazed crocks and jugs. I never found marked or decorated pieces but since I collect stoneware, have always wondered the who, what and whens about the pottery. It did look like a small operation so it may have been short lived. If anyone has ever heard of this pottery, I would be interested in the info.
