Traffic Tickets -- Moving Violations

Carry points if convicted. 3 points for speeding 15 miles or less over the posted limit and 4 points for speeding more than 15 miles over the posted limit.

Points carry negative consequences. 12 points accumulated within 12 months will result in a DL suspension of 30 days.

18 points within 18 months will result in a DL suspension of 90 days.

24 points within 36 months will result in a DL suspension of 1 year.

As such, it is important that you take care of your traffic ticket in a timely manner (within 30 days) and not get points that will negatively impact your DL and your insurance rates.

What to do in the event of a Domestic Battery arrest.

People who love each other sometimes get into arguments. Arguments can escalate and become heated, especially if one or both parties are under the influence of alcohol. Before you know it, someone is hit, and 911 is called by you, your spouse, or someone else. In this instance, the police are ALWAYS going to make an arrest to preserve the peace. Simply put, law enforcement will let the court sort out the facts later.

When the police arrive at the scene, your best legal course of action is to say nothing. You are getting arrested no matter what. As such, remember the police are your legal enemy, and loose lips can, and will, convict you. Keep your mouth shut. You will spend the night in jail and be released in the morning and then call me, Charles Mead, your legal friend at 561-362-6677. Don't give the State the evidence, in the form of your own statements, to convict you.
