Back this Friday to share some personal details. Since my post last week I’ve had several people reach out looking for guidance on estate planning. I can absolutely help in this area, so I wanted to shed a little more light on this subject. There are many reasons to do estate planning, even though you may feel you’re too young or haven’t accrued enough wealth. However, estate plans can protect everyone, regardless of age or income level. Organizing your assets and providing for your loved ones is one of the best things you can do for everyone involved. Furthermore, and far more important than your assets, a good estate plan will name the guardians for any minor children, be it a spouse, parents, siblings or otherwise. An estate plan also protects you should you become incapacitated. If you create a medical directive, like a living will, then you can decide who will make health related decisions for you, such as a spouse or another member of your family. And let’s not forget the financial perspective. There are significant tax ramifications that you need to understand and protect your family against, and that’s where estate planning documents will ensure you cover all your bases. The question is not if you need an estate plan, it’s when. And the answer is that it is never too early to plan, so this holiday season I hope you’ll make this a priority because there is no better gift than peace of mind. I’m just a phone call or email away at [email protected] and I hope to have the opportunity to work with you, your family, your friends and your clients.
