Are you a non-profit or community organization dreaming of taking the next step in becoming tax-exempt as a 501(c)(3)? If so, you probably have a lot of questions, the application process is likely daunting, and you just don’t know where to go or what to ask.

First, 501(c)(3) status is reserved for those entities that are organized "exclusively for charitable, religious, scientific, literary, or educational purposes.” Some of these are obvious based upon what you are already doing, but some of these are not. Based upon your answer, you may still qualify for an exemption but not under section 501(c)(3). This is important because there may be other requirements under other sections like 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(6).

At Three Posts Consulting, we’ve been there and understand why the process can be hard to even know which step to take to go forward! Our website has been reformatted and now has the ability to schedule consults (via phone or zoom) right from the webpage. These are short 30 minute consultations that are free for information so we can get an idea of what your problem or situation looks like, and if we can help you as a firm.

In line with our pillar of “integrity” we have an open and transparent process of taking on clients.

First, we have to determine whether we can help you or your business. That comes down to acknowledging that we have limitations as a business because we are not a licensed to practice law firm, and many situations simply require the representation of a competent lawyer. In this, we will do whatever we can to find you that competent representation or recommendations for another specialist.

Second, we may already have other current clients that have to be taken care of. Our commitment to helping our current clients comes first.

Third and finally, we can’t take cases pro bono, or on a “free of charge" basis. As stated above, we have no real way to represent people fully and with our best ability without being licensed to practice law. Our consultations are offered free of charge so we can either help you on a fee that works, or can recommend you to another specialist.

We hope that this makes sense and helps you in making a decision to schedule a consultation for your self, business or municipality. We look forward to serving you.

At TPLLP we have three posts or “pillars" of values we try to embody with our services and customer care:

1. Knowledge;
2. Integrity; and
3. Perseverance.

In line with our first pillar - "knowledge"
we are excited to start a series of webinars and in-person workshops all about some essential topics that the average person needs to know:

- From Beyond the Grave and More (Powers of Attorney, Wills, and Probate);

- Doing it Yourself (Pro Se Litigation);

-Starting Small (Small business series).

Each will be available in either live or recorded webinar and some of the series will be available live at a place to be determined. There will be a sign up sheet available here on this page as well as on our website threepostconsulting.com in the coming weeks.

Each series will present on essential topics within each of these three subject area, in a fun and entertaining way that will keep you, the audience, engaged. I am also hoping to provide answers to your biggest questions on these topics. We want you to arm yourself with the knowledge you need to know when these issues come up, and know when you should seek the advice of an attorney or other advisor.

In the coming weeks we will detail each webinar and class offered, including price and space for attendees. If the topic is something that you think you may need to tackle in the future, or are tackling currently, we encourage you to sign up and attend. Even if you have a basic working knowledge of these topics, we will be going more in-depth as we continue the series, so be on the lookout for a topic that you need help with, or just message us with the topic you want to see within these three subject areas. If there is enough demand for a specific topic within those areas (or even outside of those areas) then the people have spoken and TPLLP is happy to oblige! Just let us know!

We are open and accepting new clients. We do house calls and phone calls currently, while the office is still being constructed. If you have a question or problem, even if you aren’t exactly sure what it is, call us and setup a time to consult.
