Another one💥Congratulations, Aretha!

Aretha has served nearly 19 years of a life sentence. During that time, she committed herself to rehabilitation, completed extensive programming, and prepared for a structured return home.

Aretha retained Maxwell + Tillman to advocate on her behalf before the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles. Attorney Abbi Hallman presented her case and the full record of her growth and rehabilitation. Despite opposition from the Attorney General’s Office, VOCAL, and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, Attorney Hallman was able to secure Aretha’s parole.

She is ready to go home and begin this next chapter with the support of her family who is pictured above.

To God be the Glory. Another one!💥
Antonio Johnson was accused and convicted of a robbery first degree and sentenced to 50 years in prison.
Being at the wrong place at the wrong time shattered his life and robbed him of his freedom. Despite maintaining his innocence, Mr. Johnson has served approximately 16 years in prison.

During his incarceration hope seemed elusive for Mr. Johnson. However, in a last desperate attempt to overturn his conviction, he and his family sought the assistance of the post-conviction team at Maxwell & Tillman. Their tireless efforts to bring the truth to light finally paid off. Through numerous pleadings and Rule 32 hearings, these dedicated lawyers successfully secured the release of Mr. Johnson with newly discovered evidence.

Today, Antonio Johnson is once again free, relieved from the wrongful incarceration that plagued him for 16 agonizing years. Reunited with his loving family, he cherishes the precious time that was unjustly stolen from him. With a renewed sense of gratitude and determination, Mr. Johnson strives to rebuild his life and leave behind the nightmare that stole his freedom.

Special thanks to Attorney Leroy Maxwell Jr. , Attorney Abbi Hallman, Paralegal Sarah, and the entire Maxwell Tillman Post-Conviction team.
