The Rule of Law
The rule of law is a commonly used term to describe many aspects of the legal system. To lawyers and judges it should mean respect for prior established precedents and consideration of laws and statutes in context of their legislative intent. But most importantly it means equal and just interpretation and dispense of the law as well. As we have observed just interpretation and dispensing of the law seems to have become the exception and not the rule based on economic status, race, s*x, and far extraneous factors like political affiliation. One thing is certain and that is if society as a whole losses faith in the rule of law and its protections civil order will dissolve into utter chaos. We must insure that our system of democracy and freedom is not allowed to degenerate into total lawlessness or a repressive police state because a select few want to take advantage of and dominate the many. There must be accountability, and justice for all.
