Here is something most first-time homebuyers in Birmingham do not realize. Not every agent in a transaction is working for you.

It sounds surprising, but it matters more than almost anything else when you are buying a home. The duties an agent owes a buyer are shaped by state law, and knowing where you stand changes everything.

When I represent you as your buyer's agent, my job is your interests. Full stop.

That means honest advice on whether a property is priced right. It means negotiating the offer in your favor, not the seller's. It means keeping your information confidential and making sure you see the disclosures you are owed before you commit.

A buyer who understands this walks in with power instead of guessing. A buyer who does not can end up leaning on someone who was never really in their corner.

There is nothing quite like the relief of selling a house in Birmingham faster than you expected.

Chappy and their family listed their home, and within one week we had a contract in hand. They described the closing as smooth and said they would use me again.

That last part means the most to me.

A quick contract is wonderful, but a smooth closing is what people actually remember. It is the difference between a sale that stresses you out and one that lets you breathe and look ahead to what is next.

None of that happens by accident. It comes from pricing a home honestly, preparing it the right way, and keeping you informed at every single step so nothing catches you off guard.

That is the standard I hold for every client, whether the offer comes in a week or takes a little longer.

This week was one of those moments I know I will carry with me for a very long time.

I was deeply honored to be recognized as a 2026 Fair Housing Champion alongside Barry Long and Courtney Johnson Rose. Together, we became part of a very small group—fewer than 20 individuals nationwide who have received this recognition. That reality is both humbling and overwhelming.

As I stood on that stage, I couldn’t help but reflect on the journey that brought me here. The truth is, awards like this are never earned alone. They are the result of countless people who believed in you, encouraged you, challenged you, and walked beside you along the way.

I was grateful to share this experience with friends, colleagues, and fellow advocates who care deeply about protecting property rights, expanding opportunities, and ensuring that everyone is treated fairly and equally in housing.

Most of all, I was grateful to share it with Rob. Through every challenge, every setback, every victory, and every season of growth, he has been right there beside me. Quite honestly, I wouldn’t be standing on stages like this without his love, support, and belief in me.

My past may be part of my story, but it does not define my future. This recognition reminds me that the long way still gets you there.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. My heart is full.
