Should you check on everyone after a car accident? If you can do so safely, then yes, check on others involved in the accident. If there are signs of injury, minor or major, call an ambulance right away.

If you are even slightly injured, you should do the same thing. Injuries often aren’t immediately apparent in auto accidents, so you may need to see your doctor or go to a hospital emergency room a day or so later.

After a car accident, should you move your vehicle? If fortunately, you aren’t injured, you should try and move your car away from the scene of the accident or it may impede other vehicles. If your car is not in a state that it can be moved, go for the hazard lights to warn other cars off the lane of your car.

Keep a vigilant eye out for trucks coming up swiftly behind you. They may be closer than you think.

The streets and highways of Southern California are increasing in the number of trucks that travel them every year. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a “large truck” is one weighing more than 10,000 pounds. An 18-wheeler tractor-trailer can weigh more than 80,000 pounds. A semi-truck or 18-wheeler rig can weigh 40 times as much as a car. Because of their enormous size, large blind spot, and inability to stop quickly or maneuver as easily as a car, accidents caused by trucks can cause catastrophic damage and involve many vehicles. The injuries sustained by truck accidents are generally more devastating than car or motorcycle accidents, and property damage is incredibly greater.

According to California Personal Injury Law, any person who has been injured during a motor vehicle accident that was caused by a truck driver’s negligence, may be entitled to monetary compensation from the negligent truck driver and/or the truck driver’s employer.
