Couples don't usually wake up and have an affair; there are many signs. The real problem often starts with poor communication and unresolved conflict over small issues, leading to frustration and bigger problems.

In John 17, Jesus' ultimate plea before his death wasn't for superpowers, but for unity. He prayed for believers to be one, just as He and the Father are one, so the world would know God. Satan's mission, conversely, is division – tearing apart marriages, families, and churches. Jesus' call for oneness is our greatest defense against this.

Communication is key. One partner realized they weren't a safe space, leading to a breakthrough. It's about embracing opposing views and finding solutions together, not necessarily agreeing.

Understanding the 'three planks' to intimacy in marriage: verbal, emotional, and spiritual. Guys often just want the 'ice cream,' but building connection requires walking across all three.

Marriage can quietly drift into a mindset of “I deserve…”—more appreciation, more understanding, more effort. And while those desires aren’t wrong, entitlement can slowly steal the joy out of a relationship.

But when that mindset shifts, everything changes.

When we realize we aren’t entitled to anything, we start becoming grateful for everything.

The small things feel big again—a kind word, a shared laugh, a simple act of effort. Instead of keeping score, we start noticing the good. Instead of focusing on what’s missing, we begin appreciating what’s present.

Your spouse stops being someone who “owes” you and becomes someone you’re thankful to walk through life with.

Gratitude softens hearts. It creates space for grace. And it has a way of strengthening a marriage in ways entitlement never could.

A healthy marriage isn’t built on demanding what we deserve—it’s built on appreciating what we’ve been given.

Stop criticizing and start connecting. This approach builds intimacy and motivates your partner to work with you, not against you. It's about turning their desire to please on, not off.

Feeling alone in marriage struggles? You're not. Hope exists to transform your relationship, but it requires intention and looking inward. Start by examining your own tendencies and shortcomings. Your spouse deserves better than your sin nature; commit to becoming the husband or wife they deserve.
