This is BIG news for the Lehigh Valley.

Chobani is investing approximately $1.2 BILLION in a major manufacturing operation here in the Lehigh Valley, with plans to support more than 900 jobs.

The numbers are impressive:

• $1.2 billion investment over five years
• 1.5 million square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space
• More than 900 jobs
• Up to 10 production lines
• More than 3 BILLION pounds of Pennsylvania milk expected to be used annually at full capacity

This is the kind of investment that reaches well beyond one company. It means jobs, construction, suppliers, farmers, housing demand and more economic activity throughout our region.

I've been in real estate in the Lehigh Valley for a long time, and I've watched this area grow tremendously. Investments of this size are another reminder that businesses continue to see what many of us already know — the Lehigh Valley is a great place to live, work and invest.

A little home maintenance now can save you a much bigger headache — and expense — later.

The Pennsylvania Association of Realtors put together **9 simple home maintenance projects you can knock out over a weekend**, including:

• Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
• Change the HVAC filter
• Check around the house for leaks
• Inspect window caulking
• Clean the dryer vent
• Clear gutters and downspouts
• Make sure your emergency supplies are stocked

With fall right around the corner here in the Lehigh Valley, this is a pretty good weekend checklist for homeowners.

The July numbers are in, and the Lehigh Valley housing market continues to show just how strong demand remains.

The median sales price in Lehigh and Northampton counties reached another record high of **$389,500**, up 3.9% from last July.

A few numbers that stood out to me:

* Median sales price: **$389,500**
* Homes sold in an average of just **17 days**
* Sellers received an average of **101.4% of asking price**
* Pending sales were **up 8.1%**
* We still have only **1.6 months of inventory**

The takeaway is pretty simple: we still do not have enough homes for the number of buyers in the market.

For sellers, properly priced homes are still getting a lot of attention. For buyers, there are opportunities, but being prepared and knowing the local market matters.

Real estate is always local, and these numbers are a good reminder that what you hear nationally doesn't necessarily tell you what's happening here in the Lehigh Valley.
