🏡 Monthly Homeowner Tip
The small habit that prevents hidden fire hazards 👇
🧺 Dryer Vents & Exhaust Ducts
A quick check = protecting your home (and your utility bill)
✂️ Lint trap emptied every single load (the bare minimum)
🧹 Deep clean of the main exhaust hose behind the machine
🌬️ Exterior vent flap checked for blockages
🔥 Eliminating the #1 cause of household fires
✅ A 15-minute sweep that helps your machine run perfectly
The fix: Pull your dryer away from the wall, disconnect the corrugated exhaust hose, and vacuum out the built-up lint. Then, go outside while the dryer is running to make sure the exterior vent flap is opening fully and blowing clear air.
Why now?: August in the East Bay is peak heat. When the environment is already baking, a clogged, overheating dryer vent becomes a massive fire risk. Plus, a clean duct means your dryer doesn't have to work as hard, which keeps your machine alive longer and lowers your summer PG&E bill.
