One of my goals for 2020 is to help spread the word about a project very near and dear to my family and friends in Benicia/Vallejo: Cultivate Community Food Co-op’s mission “to be Solano County’s first community-owned, natural grocery store dedicated to providing high-quality, locally-sourced, culturally-relevant, ethically produced, and affordable products.”
I recently hosted the owner’s annual holiday party at my other business Cullen's Tannery Pub & Saloon. We gathered as a blended community of like-minded individuals to celebrate our growth and discuss the ways we can further our development and reach our target milestones for reaching the ultimate goal of opening our store. A good time was had by all and I appreciated so many owners coming and participating in the event.
One of the ideas was for each owner to share our mission and bring in a new member, which would effectively double our number of owners, thus reaching the ownership level requirements to perform the necessary studies to help determine the location of our future store. A ton of work still needs to be done, but we each can make a difference in how the workload is carried out if we individually do a small part to collectively ease the burden on our board members of building our strength in numbers.
I highly recommend that anyone who is interested in eating healthy and who will eventually be a shopper at our grocery store becomes an owner at this early stage! We definitely need your support and you will benefit greatly by joining our community, including participating in our fun events like this throughout the year.
It’s easy and affordable! To become an owner you can sign up online at http://cultivatecommunityfood.coop/disclosure or simply reply below and message me and I will get you an application. I am happy to answer your questions or point you to the right person who can answer them.
