Updated Mileage Rates for 2026!!!

The IRS is increasing its standard mileage rates midyear, citing recent increases in fuel prices.
Beginning July 1, 2026, the optional standard mileage rates are:
• 76 cents per mile for business use, up from 72.5 cents
• 23.5 cents per mile for medical purposes, up from 20.5 cents
• 23.5 cents per mile for moving purposes for eligible active-duty members of the Armed Forces and certain members of the intelligence community, up from 20.5 cents
• 14 cents per mile for charitable miles, unchanged
That means there are now two sets of standard mileage rates for 2026.
The original rates still apply to eligible expenses paid or incurred from January 1 through June 30. The revised rates apply to eligible expenses paid or incurred on or after July 1.

• What happens if I don’t file on time? There’s no penalty for filing a late tax return after the deadline if you are set to receive a refund. However, penalties and interest are due if taxes are not filed on time or a tax extension is not requested AND you owe tax. The failure-to-file penalty is 5 percent of the unpaid tax added for each month (or part of a month) that a tax return is late.
• Can I file for an extension? If you are not on track to complete your tax return by April 15, you can file an extension to give you until Oct. 15 to file your tax return. Be aware that it is only an extension of time to file – not an extension of time to pay taxes you owe. You still need to pay all taxes by April 15 to avoid penalties and interest.
• What are my tax payment options? You have many options to pay your income tax. You can mail a check, pay directly from a bank account with IRS direct pay, pay with a debit or credit card (for a fee), or apply online for an IRS payment plan. No matter how you pay your tax bill, finalize tax payment arrangements by the end of the day on April 15.

Final Tax Season Reminder!

Tax season is almost over! The deadline to file your 2026 personal Income Tax Return is Wednesday, April 15th.

Any file recieved in our office after April 1st will require an extension. If you have not reached out, please do so immediately! Please don’t wait until the last minute—let’s make sure everything is accurate, complete, and submitted on time! We are here to help with any last-minute questions, or extensions if needed.
