At approximately 9:20 p.m Monday, August 24, 2026, the Beloit Police Department received multiple reports of shots fired in the area of Eighth Street and Liberty Avenue.

Officers responded to the area and located a male in his 30s who had sustained possible gunshot injuries. Officers immediately initiated lifesaving measures. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Evidence was recovered on scene. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No additional information is available for release at this time.

Turn on your porch light and join your neighbors for the annual National Night Out celebration! From neighborhood block parties to the kickoff event at Vernon Park, National Night Out celebrates community and partnerships as we work together to make a safer city.

Block parties will be held Tuesday, August 4, throughout the city. New this year, we are moving the kickoff event to Vernon Park, 934 Vernon Ave., for a special splash party from 4-5pm Tuesday, August 4. Community members who do not have a block party in their neighborhood are invited to spend time with water activities and other fun with our department.

The Beloit Police Department responded to the 1800 block of Spruce Street for a call of shots fired at 4:34am May 17, 2026. Upon arrival, responding officers canvassed the area and recovered evidence of shots fired on Spruce Street between Jean Ellen Drive and Newfield Drive.

A neighborhood survey was conducted with reports of a vehicle fleeing the scene traveling north after gunshots were heard. At this time, there is no report of property damage or a person struck due to this offense.

The Beloit Police Department is actively investigating this offense and currently asking the public for help to gather information. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, notice activity in the area, or possesses relevant security footage is urged to contact the Beloit Police Department.
