Wet roads reduce traction and can double the distance it takes to stop. That means the same quick brake that works on a dry day might not stop you in time on a rainy one. A good rule: leave at least 4–6 seconds of space between your car and the vehicle ahead. More if visibility is poor.
A little extra distance gives you the time you need to react — and helps prevent the crashes we see so often this time of year.
