Dads, we see you. And we see how complicated family law can get.

Family law isn’t about “winning” in the traditional sense. There are no trophies at the end, and when children are involved, nobody truly walks away with everything they wanted.

But there is a difference between simply getting through a case and having someone in your corner who understands what you’re fighting for.

At Stone Law Firm, PLLC, we believe good dads deserve to be heard, taken seriously, and given a fair opportunity to protect their relationships with their children.

We’re a woman-owned and women-run family law firm, and yes — we proudly represent dads. 💪

Our work focuses on the things that matter when your family is going through one of the hardest seasons imaginable, including:

⚖️ Divorce & legal separation
👨‍👧‍👦 Parenting plans & residential schedules
📋 Child support
🏡 Property & financial issues related to family law
🛡️ Domestic Violence Protection Orders (DVPOs)
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Custody & other family law matters

Our goal isn’t to manufacture a “win.” It’s to help you pursue the best possible outcome for you and your children, while making sure your voice, your evidence, and your side of the story are actually heard.

Because being a good dad shouldn’t put you at a disadvantage in the courtroom.

And sometimes, having a woman in your corner who knows exactly how the system works? That’s an advantage. 😉

What Are “191 Findings” in Washington Family Law?

In Washington State family law, “191 findings” refer to findings made under RCW 26.09.191, a law that allows the court to place restrictions on a parent’s residential time or decision-making when certain serious concerns exist.

These findings may be based on issues such as:

• Domestic violence
• Child abuse or neglect
• Abandonment
• Substance abuse that affects parenting
• Serious mental health concerns that impair parenting
• A history of abusive or harmful conflict

If the court enters 191 findings, it can limit a parent’s time with their child, require supervised visitation, restrict decision-making authority, or impose other conditions designed to protect the child’s best interests.

It’s important to remember that allegations alone are not enough. The court must evaluate the evidence before imposing restrictions under RCW 26.09.191.

Because 191 findings can have a significant impact on custody and parenting plans, it’s essential to understand your rights and present strong evidence if these issues arise in your case.

A child deserves the love, guidance, and support of both parents whenever it is safe and in their best interest.

In Washington State, family courts generally recognize that children benefit from having meaningful relationships with both mom and dad. That’s why the courts often encourage parenting plans that allow both parents to remain actively involved in their child’s life whenever possible. The focus isn’t on “winning” custody—it’s on creating a stable, healthy future for the child.

For dads, it’s important to know that being a father matters. Your involvement at school events, doctor’s appointments, extracurricular activities, bedtime routines, and everyday moments helps shape your child’s confidence, emotional well-being, and future.

If you’re facing a custody dispute or struggling to maintain your relationship with your child, don’t assume you have to face it alone. Understanding your rights and working through the legal process can make all the difference.

At Stone Law Firm, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to have a healthy relationship with both parents whenever it is safe to do so, and we’re committed to helping families navigate that process with compassion and determination.

💙 Because being a dad isn’t just a title—it’s a lifelong commitment that matters

Parental alienation is one of the most heartbreaking issues a family court can face.

When one parent intentionally damages a child’s relationship with the other parent through manipulation, false accusations, or constant negative comments, the child is often the one who suffers the most.

In Washington State, courts focus on the best interests of the child. Judges want children to have healthy, meaningful relationships with both parents whenever it is safe and appropriate. While “parental alienation” isn’t specifically defined in Washington law, behaviors that interfere with a child’s relationship with the other parent can become an important factor in custody and parenting plan decisions.

Examples may include:
• Repeatedly speaking negatively about the other parent to the child.
• Interfering with court-ordered parenting time.
• Encouraging a child to fear or reject the other parent without a legitimate reason.
• Using a child as a messenger or placing them in the middle of adult conflict.

Children deserve to love both parents without feeling guilty or pressured to choose sides.

If you’re concerned that parental alienation may be affecting your family, understanding your legal options early can make a meaningful difference.
