Today Carteret County Animal Control
Services will host a free rabies vaccination clinic for pets from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. or while supplies last, in the parking lot of the Carteret County
Health Department, 3820 Bridges St., Morehead City. The drive-thru clinic will allow
pets to remain in vehicles. The event is open to Carteret County residents.
Clinic guidelines:
• Do not attend if you or your pets are sick.
• Limit of three pets per family.
• Pets must be under control at all times and either caged or on a leash no longer
than six feet. Cats and ferrets must be in carriers.
• Follow all signage and staff instructions.
North Carolina law requires all dogs, cats, and ferrets over four months of age to be
vaccinated against rabies. After the initial vaccination, pets should receive a booster
one year later, followed by vaccinations every three years.
