Our team spent the afternoon at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, sorting and packing alongside their staff and other volunteers. It's an annual tradition for us, and one we look forward to each year.

The visit followed our firmwide food drive, and we're grateful to everyone in the office who contributed.

Our thanks to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank team for hosting us and for the work they do across Northeast Ohio every day. If you're able to give time or support, they'd welcome it: https://www.greaterclevelandfoodbank.org/

Singerman, Mills, Desberg & Kauntz Co., L.P.A., was recently named as one of the 2026 Best Places to Work in Ohio. This is the third time that SMDK has won this prestigious honor, having previously been recognized in 2021 and 2022. The annual list of the Best Places to Work in Ohio was created by Best Companies Group in partnership with Crain’s Cleveland Business.

This statewide survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Ohio, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses.

“To be ranked 31st on the list of Best Places to Work in Ohio, and to be recognized for a third time, is a tremendous distinction,” shared SMDK Co-President Christopher O’Connell. “The overwhelming majority of the score comes from a confidential survey of our own attorneys and staff — it is not something leadership can influence. To have our employees support and respect SMDK is gratifying as well as an exceptional honor.”

“We are a law firm where everyone knows everyone, and that is not incidental to how we practice,” said Firm Co-President Evan S. Hirsch. “How our people treat one another, how work moves between us, and how we take care of our clients are all the same thing. Our clients get the benefit of a team that has worked together for a long time and intends to keep doing so.”

“I have said for years, that if you must work, Singerman Mills is the best place to be. I am pleased that our attorneys and staff continue to agree,” said Chairman Paul J. Singerman. “What is most gratifying about a third recognition is that our firm has grown and changed in the years since the first one but the culture has not. That belongs to everyone here.”

As promised, the U.S. Treasury Department issued a final rule regarding the Corporate Transparency Act on August 11, 2026, replacing the interim rule issued in March of 2025. Pursuant to that final rule:

•Companies formed in the United States are not required to file Beneficial Ownership Information Reports (BOIRs) with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

•FinCEN will delete all information previously reported by U.S. persons from the beneficial ownership information database.

•Only foreign companies which are registered to do business in the U.S. are required to file BOIRs, and those BOIRs are not required to include any information on U.S. persons.

As a result, the Corporate Transparency Act conclusively no longer applies to domestic companies or U.S. persons, and any beneficial owner information previously reported by domestic companies and U.S. persons who filed reports will be deleted.

Singerman, Mills, Desberg & Kauntz Co., L.P.A. one of northeast Ohio’s premier real estate, business and litigation boutique law firms, proudly marks its 25th anniversary this year. In conjunction with this milestone, the firm announced a strategic leadership transition designed to support its continued growth and long-term vision.

Effective January 1, 2026, Ronald J. Teplitzky has concluded his tenure as President after six years of distinguished service in the role. Under his leadership, the firm continued to advance and provide elite legal services to all of its clients. Teplitzky will now devote all of his time to his legal practice.

As part of the transition, the Principals of Singerman Mills have elected Christopher O’Connell and Evan S. Hirsch to serve as Co-Presidents. O’Connell and Hirsch have complementary skillsets and a strong working relationship, which factored into the decision to move to a Co-President structure. Together, they will jointly oversee the firm’s strategic direction, operations, and client service initiatives, bringing their collective experience and perspectives to the role.

O’Connell added, “It is an honor to step into this role at such a meaningful moment in the firm’s history. We are committed to preserving the values that have defined Singerman Mills for 25 years while continuing to evolve to meet our clients’ needs.”

Hirsch echoed that sentiment, stating, “Our focus remains on delivering exceptional legal counsel, investing in our people, and continuing to be a premier mid-size law firm.”

O’Connell and Hirsch bring decades of legal expertise and leadership experience to their new roles as Co-Presidents. They both will continue to actively practice law while leading Singerman Mills. Paul J. Singerman will continue in his role as Chairman, providing continuity and strategic guidance as the firm advances its long-term objectives.

“Celebrating 25 years is both a moment of pride and an opportunity to position the firm for the long-term future,” said Singerman. “I am confident that Chris and Evan will continue to build on our strong foundation while leading the firm into its next chapter.”
