TXDMV SCAM ALERT

The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office wants to make you aware of a scam that has been circulating through text messages. Scammers are posing as the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles and sending messages claiming you have an outstanding traffic fine, unpaid toll, or other violation that could lead to penalties or suspension of your license or registration.
These messages are not legitimate.

Do not click on any links or scan QR codes included in these texts. If you receive one, delete it and do not respond.

Suspicious messages can be reported to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov or to the Federal Trade Commission at www.reportfraud.ftc.gov.
