OUCH! Igloo Expands Cooler Recall After More Amputation Reports
Igloo Products Corp. has expanded its recall of 90-quart rolling coolers to include an additional 130,000 units due to new injury reports, including fingertip amputations, federal safety officials announced Thursday. The expansion brings the total number of recalled Igloo 90 Qt Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers to nearly 1.2 million in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The company said the coolers' tow handles can pinch users' fingers, posing amputation and crushing hazards, and urged consumers to immediately stop using them and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle. Since the initial February recall, Igloo has received 78 injury reports, including 26 involving amputations, fractures, or lacerations. The affected coolers, manufactured before January 2024, were sold between January 2019 and January 2025 at major retailers and online, retailing for $80 to $140. Consumers can identify recalled models by checking the model number and manufacture date on the cooler.

NHTSA Announces Multiple Vehicle Recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration last week issued several vehicle recalls, including one affecting nearly 600,000 Cadillac, GMC, and Chevrolet vehicles due to potential engine failure. The recalled General Motors models, equipped with a 6.2L V8 engine and spanning the 2021 to 2024 model years, may have defective connecting rod or crankshaft components that could lead to engine damage. Owners may notice knocking sounds or the check engine light illuminating. GM dealers will inspect and repair or replace engines for free, with notification letters expected by June 9. Separately, Ford recalled nearly 290,000 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, primarily 2015 models and some 2022-2023 Broncos, for potentially faulty rearview cameras. Polestar also recalled over 27,000 of its 2021-2025 Polestar 2 vehicles for a rearview camera display issue, and Volkswagen recalled over 5,600 of its 2025 ID. BUZZ vehicles due to a missing seat belt in the third row. Owners can check for recalls on their vehicles using the NHTSA website or other automotive recall databases.
