April 2026 - Retired FDNY Supervising Fire Marshal, approved by the New York City Fire Department’s Pension Fund, for a World Trade Center Accident Disability Retirement pension reclassification, for severe 9/11 gastrointestinal issues, whose application had been previously denied on multiple occasions, prior to hiring Chet Lukaszewski as counsel.

April 2026 - Retired NYPD Police Officer approved by the NYPD’s Pension Fund, for a World Trade Center Accident Disability Retirement pension reclassification, for severe psychological issues, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, where application previously denied, with the assistance of Chet Lukaszewski as counsel.

April 2026 – Following a Court remand secured by Chet Lukaszewski, wherein it was ruled that the New York City Employees’ Retirement system improperly denied Performance of Duty disability retirement to a FDNY Emergency Medical Technician, where its Board of Trustees based the denial on a medical theory presented by its Chief Medical Officer at the last minute, and not during the long history of the case; the retired EMT is approved by NYCERS for a ¾’s pension, retroactively.

March 2026 - Retired NYPD Sergeant approved by the Police Pension Fund for a World Trade Center Accident Disability Retirement pension reclassification, for 9/11 related prostate cancer; with the assistance of Chet Lukaszewski as counsel.

March 2026 – A New York City School Teacher, approved by the New York City Teachers’ Retirement System, for an Accident Disability Retirement pension, based on a serious line of duty hip injury, where the application was originally denied by the TRS Medical Board; with the assistance of Chet Lukaszewski as counsel, and the MDASR Disability Pension Team.

03/26/2026

February 2026 - With the assistance of Chet Lukaszewski as counsel, and the MDASR Disability Pension Team, a New York City Department of Education Supervisor, was approved by the Board of Education Retirement System, for a disability retirement pension, based a collection of orthopedic injuries and conditions. The application was prepared and presented in such a manner, that it was approved by the BERS Medical Board on the first consideration.

03/03/2026

December 2025 – In response to the filing of an Article 78 Proceeding by Chet Lukaszewski, the NYPD's Pension Fund agreed to take back a World Trade Center Accident Disability Retirement application, for reconsideration. The case involved a retired 9/11 responder, who developed serious gastrointestinal issues and conditions which the Fund and its Medical Board, found to be disabling for police work, but said were not connected to WTC toxic exposures, and the certified conditions from which he suffers. A Petition and Memorandum of Law challenging the decision were filed, at which time, instead of putting in a defense and taking the case to judgment, the application was taken back. Client and counsel are hopeful for a WTC pension reclassification approval on reconsideration.

November 2025 – New York City Police Department Police Officer, approved by the NYPD’s Pension Fund for a ¾’s Accident Disability Retirement pension, for a low back injury resulting from the arrest of a violent perpetrator, which despite extensive medical treatment and care, did not allow for a safe and effective return to full duty; with the assistance of Chet Lukaszewski counsel.

October 2025 – Retired FDNY Firefighter, approved by the New York City Fire Department’s Pension Fund, for a World Trade Center Accident Disability Retirement pension reclassification, for serious psychological issues which worsened significantly over the years, notably upon his leaving service; stemming from his highly traumatic World Trade Center response, rescue, recovery and clean-up efforts; with the assistance of Chet Lukaszewski as counsel.
