To all SULC former students, especially those who went to summer school in London, Prof. Maurice Franks passed away yesterday.

My dear, dear friend and “next door neighbor” at work for 30 years. He was someone who was passionate about anything he believed in. He was smart and a bit eccentric and loved his students. I know there are many of you who he advised and helped personally.

But more than that, he was an excellent father who - completely on his own - raised two beautiful and now accomplished daughters, Nikki Franks and Yvette Franks, who helped me with my kids as reliable and loving babysitters (and who helped many of you get your bearings in London). Then, in his later years, married a beautiful and accomplished woman, Maylene Franks, and raised another beautiful daughter, Moira.

He will be missed but fondly remembered by many, including me.

A date for the memorial service has not yet been decided. I will let you know as soon as I know.

Celebrate the life of Maurice Franks, leave a kind word or memory and get funeral service information care of Rabenhorst Funeral Home & Crematory.

One of the many benefits of Fed-Soc is a great lifetime network, the educational opportunities they offer, and the partnerships they have. I just returned from a fully paid for Colloquium in North Carolina where I had the opportunity to discuss with and learn from professors and lawyers from across the United States and Canada. We discussed the creation of our government through the Federalist/Anti-Federalist Papers and debates. Incredible learning and networking experience!!
